Partial Frame Manipulation

Hello Konstantin,

Here is a scenario that I have been trying with my CANNY 7.2 DUO.

Is it possible to block a specific byte in a data frame while allowing other bytes of that same frame to pass through unchanged?

For example:

Source CAN 0 : 0x308 [1][2] == RPM.

Target CAN 1:

0x201 [FF FF] FF 00 22 22 00 00
ERL (8)

D1:D0 == RPM
D5:D4 == MPH

I want to block or replace D1:D0 while passing the remaining bytes through.

The issue came about due to bench test scenario where I have
the replacement engine ECM on CAN 0 broadcasting RPM 0x308 [1][2] to activate the RPM gauge on the instrument cluster on CAN 1 via 0x201 D1:D0 successfully.

However, the vehicle's overall system rely on the original engine's PCM to broadcast 0x201 byte D5:D4 for MPH.

If I allow both PCM node and CANNY node to broadcast then the RPM gauge and MPH gauge fluctuate due to contradictory data.

If I try to block 0x201 to prevent D1:D0 (00:00) using

(1)->CANGW Selector X Drop Mode.
(0xFFFF)->CANGW Selector X Value Mask, CAN IDL.
(1)->CANGGW Selector X Replace Mask, CAN D1:D0.
(0)->CANGW Selector X Replace,CAN D1:D0.

Then the whole frame 0x201 with all bytes are dropped.

Is it possible to replace 0x201 D1:D0 leaving the remaining bytes complete?
Perhaps I can put both ECM and PCM on CAN0 then only allow desired frames from to pass from CAN 0 to CAN 1 (vehicle bus)?

Sending ADC Value to CAN

Hi I am trying to send an ADC value to CAN but I am having trouble even connecting to the bus.

I have the program "FuelPumpPrime+Scramble2.3" working on a different bus at 100k bit/s.

However when I try to use the same method to connect to a 500k bit/s bus, I don't seem to get any data. I have uploaded the ccm firmware to the device and I can connect and read the bus at 500k bit/s. But when I put a test value of 0 for Y under Engine_Run_Only_Signal (Oil_Press+Engine_Run_Signal+CAN_Broadcast), the output does not trigger. I don't seem to be receiving can data.

I'm also not sure if the pic5.3 is transmitting any data.

Output 8 also doesn't seem to be doing what it should. With no input from ADC, the output should be grounded but it seems to float.

I have confirmed CAN terminations and do not need any; there is 60ohms resistance on the bus wiring and the point I am tapping is where I had removed an auto trans control modules so I know it was not EOL.

Hello! Can someone guide me how to get started with setting up the MD1A to get 5v from channel 8? I am using 12v input voltage and also intend to read the voltages 0-5v on channels 9 and 10, which I have jumpered to the appropriate adc contacts on the unit. Any assistance with the registers is very appreciated!

Hi Konstantin,

Probably just a simple question but i can't find a good start of the answer within the docs or the forum.

Purpose for this is that we are reading data from the can bus . If the data exceeds a certain value the output needs to be triggered.
As this value depends on the needs of the operator, the operator can adjust the analog value (potentiometer).
The value given by this potentiometer needs to be read by the Canny7.0.

Is it possible to read an analog value (0-10v) from a potentiometer ?

Can filtering with can gateway

Hello Konstantin,

For a project i am using the Canny 7.2 as a gateway to relay messages between can 0 and can 1. So far everything seems to function fine. But some times it seems that the canny is missing a message that has been used for confirmation if a task is completed. This results in unnecessary execution of the process for finishing this task until the confirmation is received.

With the usage of the can filtering on CAN 0 or CAN 1 we can prevent this, if the Canny has not been used as a Gateway. If the canny has been in use as a gateway we need to use the special feature: CAN Gateway Filtering Mode.
With the description of the can gateway filtering it tells me the following :
"only relay messages to the second CAN interface of the controller and transmit them to the function diagram (CANx driver) if they are accepted by the gateway selections ".

The can gateway selections as mentioned above are these the values selected with the can gateway selector value registers ?

can message missing several times when reading can bus

Hello,

For a project i am reading several extended can bus messages from the can bus. One of the messages is broadcasted each 400ms.
This is quite a slow interval and now it seems that the canny 7.0 is sometimes missing this message. This results in a delay in switching due to the missing message from some times 1.2 or 1.6 seconds. (3 or 4 messages missing before detecting the message).

Other messages that i am looking for are broadcasted with a higher frequency of 30 ms and aren't a problem.
I also noticed when i am removing reading these messages from the program (only reading the 400ms messages) it improves the program and the 400 ms second messages doesn't seems to be missed any more by the controller.

In the attached file you will find the program.

1. Why is the canny logic 7.0 missing several of the 400ms messages ?
2. How can we improve the program so we don't miss anny of the 400 ms messages ?

Can gateway Canny7.2 with extended can id

Hi,

For a project i am trying to relay all can data that is received on CAN0 to CAN1 if it doens't hit the selector. As soon as the selector has been hit the existing data in bite D3 needs to be converted. For this i used the example dynamic gateway as a base program.
The original program has been used for standard CAN ID and for dat in byte D1. For my project i need to use it with a extended format can id and with the data in Byte D3 instead of D1. To do so i have added the CAN IDH selector value and the CAN IDH value mask. Also CAN Rx D1:D0 has been replaced for CAN Rx D3:D2.

With this changes i can't get the system to work and to me it seems that the CAN IDH value isn't read by the program.

What can be wrong ?
